Those who like a bit of history will love this!
Patients who have been with us since Dr Ajay Ruparel took over Thames Street Dental, or those who have read more about us through this website may know that the current owners of Thames Street Dental have been here since 1985.
Earlier this year, we were very pleased to learn that Thames Street Dental has in fact been here for over 100 years!
It was only when one of our patients sent us a photo of Thames Street in 1914 that we realised this surgery actually features further back in the history of Kingston, and we began to explore further. The photo shared by our patient is as below:

The photo above was taken by W H Applebee in 1914, and the postcard on which it featured was captured by Howard Webb, as part of the Howard Webb Collection.
Upon exploring further, we found the Kingston, Surbiton, Tolworth Memories,Local History and Genealogy group on Facebook. In this group, we found regular posts with historic photos about Kingston-upon-Thames.
More historic photos of Thames Street and surrounding areas has also been captured in the following photos.
As it turns out, Thames Street Dental wasn’t established in 1985, but many many years before – we still don’t know when it was first established, but we know it was trading under this name back in 1914!
We have added some more historical photos of Thames Street and surrounding roads in the below slider:
